About the Company

Austin Area Birthing Center, Inc has been a long time establishment in the birth community of Austin since 1987. Because of this long history, AABC has well-established relationships with area hospitals, obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, and pediatricians. AABC is also accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers, which means that we maintain a high standard for safety and patient care.

AABC is a group practice of Certified Professional Midwives and Certified Nurse Midwives which means our students learn from a variety of backgrounds from our preceptors. All of our work is done in clinic or call shifts, so students follow the same model until they are following their continuity clients.

Monthly preceptor/student workshops are offered by AABC preceptors; however, the preceptors are not in charge of a student’s didactic/academic requirements. Most of our students are in an educational program and are getting their clinical requirements at AABC. PEP students are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
